Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Sauce

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Noodles and Garnish

  • 8 oz noodles (rice noodles or egg noodles)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes (if using) to create the flavorful sticky garlic sauce.
  2. Coat the Chicken: Toss the bite-sized chicken pieces with cornstarch until they are evenly coated to help create a crispy exterior when cooked.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken. Stir well to coat all pieces, then let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
  5. Cook the Noodles: Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them and toss with a little oil if desired to prevent sticking.
  6. Combine Noodles and Chicken: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the chicken and sauce. Toss everything together to ensure the noodles are well coated and combined with the sticky garlic chicken.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top as a garnish. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Use either chicken breast or thighs depending on your preference for lean or more tender meat.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, increase the amount of red chili flakes.
  • You can substitute cornstarch with arrowroot powder for a gluten-free option.
  • Rice noodles provide a lighter texture, whereas egg noodles offer a chewier bite.
  • Tossing noodles with a little oil after cooking helps prevent them from sticking together.
  • For added vegetables, consider stirring in bell peppers or snap peas during the chicken cooking step.
