Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup Epsom salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons almond oil
  • ½ teaspoon orange essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon water

Additional

  • Orange gel food coloring (as desired)
  • Bath bomb mold
  • Optional: body glitter or mica for sparkle

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix together the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and Epsom salt until evenly blended.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the almond oil, orange essential oil, water, and orange gel food coloring, ensuring the oil and color are well dispersed.
  3. Combine Wet & Dry: Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients while quickly stirring to prevent fizzing. Mix immediately and very well to achieve a slightly damp, sand-like consistency.
  4. Prepare Molds: If using body glitter or mica for sparkle, sprinkle it into the bath bomb molds before adding the mixture.
  5. Mold Bath Bombs: Firmly pack the bath bomb mixture into the molds, slightly overfilling each half. Press the two halves together tightly to form a compact bath bomb.
  6. Set & Dry: Let the bath bombs sit in the mold for a few minutes, then carefully remove the top half to allow evaporation. Once mostly dry, gently remove the bath bombs from the molds entirely.
  7. Store Properly: Place finished bath bombs in an airtight container or shrink wrap bags to maintain fragrance and freshness until use.

Notes

  • Work quickly when mixing wet and dry ingredients to prevent premature fizzing.
  • If the mixture feels too dry, lightly mist with water and mix until it holds shape.
  • Ensure bath bombs are completely dry before storage to avoid crumbling or premature fizzing.
  • Use bath bombs within 6 months for best fragrance and effectiveness.
  • Orange essential oil is highly concentrated; avoid direct skin contact with undiluted oil.
  • Customize colors and scents with other food coloring gels or essential oils if desired.
