These Magic Cookie Bars are a deliciously sweet treat featuring a buttery graham cracker crust layered with sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, flaked coconut, and chopped nuts. Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup butter, melted

Filling & Topping

  • 1 (14 ounce) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 1 ⅓ cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If you are using a glass baking dish, reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by coating it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Crust: In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter until the mixture is evenly moist. Transfer this mixture into the prepared baking dish and press it firmly and evenly onto the bottom to form the crust layer.
  3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the pressed graham cracker crust, spreading it gently but thoroughly.
  4. Layer Toppings: Sprinkle the semisweet chocolate morsels evenly over the sweetened condensed milk. Follow by spreading the flaked coconut evenly and then the chopped nuts for a textured and flavorful topping.
  5. Press Toppings: Using the back of a fork or spatula, gently press down the toppings so they adhere to the condensed milk layer, ensuring they do not shift during baking.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and bubbly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bars from the oven and allow to cool completely in the baking dish. Once cooled, cut into 36 squares or diamond shapes and serve.

Notes

  • You can substitute the chopped nuts with your favorite type, such as almonds, pecans, or walnuts.
  • For a nut-free version, simply omit the nuts and increase the amount of coconut or chocolate chips.
  • If you prefer chewier bars, try slightly underbaking them and allowing residual heat to finish the cooking as they cool.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Using a glass baking dish requires a lower baking temperature to avoid over-browning the edges.
