Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Firecracker Sauce

  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (mild and sweet or spicy, to preference)
  • 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated or minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Firecracker Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together buffalo sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger until well combined. Set aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Sauté Onion: Heat avocado oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant and slightly softened.
  3. Cook Ground Chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add Vegetables and Spices: Stir in the chopped broccoli, paprika, salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly to combine with the chicken.
  5. Combine with Sauce: Pour the prepared firecracker sauce over the chicken and broccoli mixture. Stir well to evenly coat all ingredients with the sauce.
  6. Simmer: Cook the mixture for an additional 5 minutes, or until the broccoli reaches your desired tenderness, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps for a lighter option.

Notes

  • You can adjust the spiciness by choosing mild or spicy buffalo sauce according to taste.
  • For a vegetarian or vegan version, substitute ground chicken with plant-based meat alternatives or crumbled tofu.
  • Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, noodles, or lettuce wraps depending on your preference.
  • To make it gluten-free, ensure soy sauce is tamari or gluten-free variety.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
