4.6 from 66 reviews

This simple 3-Ingredient Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups recipe transforms fresh or frozen fruit into a natural, delicious snack. Using minimal ingredients and straightforward steps, you can create chewy, sweet fruit leather that’s perfect for a healthy treat anytime. The process involves pureeing, simmering, and slow baking to achieve a perfectly rolled-up fruit snack without any artificial additives.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Puree

  • 46 cups fresh or frozen fruit (600700 g) – berries, mango, peaches, or any blend you love

Sweetener and Flavor

  • 46 tablespoons honey (or substitute with sugar or a sugar substitute)
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice (60 mL)

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Wash, peel, and chop your fruit if needed. Add the fruit to a blender and blend until completely smooth, creating a fruit purée.
  2. Sweeten and balance: Add the honey and lemon juice to the fruit purée in the blender. Blend again until all ingredients are well combined and smooth.
  3. Cook it down: Pour the blended mixture into a saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring frequently until the mixture becomes slightly thickened, concentrating the flavors and reducing excess moisture.
  4. Spread and bake: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Pour the thickened fruit purée onto each sheet and spread evenly to about 1/8-inch thickness to ensure even drying.
  5. Dry it out: Bake the fruit purée at a low temperature of 170°F (75°C) for 4–6 hours, or until the surface is no longer sticky to the touch. This slow baking process dehydrates the fruit into a chewy, leather-like texture.
  6. Cool and roll: Remove the baking sheets from the oven and allow the fruit leather to cool completely. Once cool, cut into strips and roll each strip up with the parchment paper. Your homemade fruit roll-ups are now ready to enjoy as a smart, natural snack.

Notes

  • You can use any combination of fruit for flavor customization—berries, mango, peaches, or a mix.
  • If you prefer a vegan alternative, substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste by varying the amount of honey or sugar substitute.
  • Ensure the fruit puree layer is spread evenly and consistently to dry uniformly.
  • Store the rolled fruit leather in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks.
  • Low-temperature baking is essential to prevent burning and maintain flavor and texture.
